An urban man, almost buried himself in words and tired out, escaped to the woods of memory. In the gaze from his dream reflects an image of still lake.

Clear like a mirror it projects the shadow of white deer, the figure from the legend of the Thao Aborigines, and inexplicably initiates his selfquest across time and space.

The Pursuit of White Deer depicts the state of twisted mind of modern people, and how the character retrieves the lost-self owing to the myth over 300 years that how the Thao ancestors discovered their promised land of prosperity, Ita Thao (Sun Moon Lake). By using a combination of puppet, shadows, object, singing, and actors, a magical collage was formed and led the audience into a mysterious faraway place of wonder.
